One of these fruits is Blackberry (Jamun), which is available in summer between June and August. It is also called Java Plum and Black Plum. In Ayurveda, this fruit is considered a panacea for sugar patients. Not only this, but its seeds are also supposed to control diabetes.

Dr Saroj Gautam, Associate Professor of Aligarh Medical College, UP, told News18 that blackberries and their seeds are said to be extremely beneficial for diabetes patients in Ayurveda. Blackberry contains astringent juice, which controls the sweet juice, that is blood sugar in the body. It is a storehouse of many nutrients including vitamin C, fibre and antioxidants. The amount of carbohydrates and fructose in blackberries is low, due to which it does not increase blood sugar. The gum that gives it the black colour can prevent oxidative damage caused by diabetes.

She said that eating powdered blackberries and their seeds helps control the sugar in the urine of diabetic patients. This can provide relief to diabetic patients from the problem of frequent urination. It can be considered very effective in improving stomach health. This fruit improves the digestive system. It can also reduce the risk of heart disease and brain problems and is considered beneficial for overall health. It is among the most nutritious fruits in summer.

According to Ayurveda experts, people should take 3 grams of blackberry seed powder, that is about one teaspoon of powder, either one hour before or one hour after eating. Diabetes patients should consume this powder in the morning and evening. If your sugar level is very high or fluctuates frequently, then you can consult a doctor before consuming the blackberry.
