Sita Navami is also known as Janaki Navami, a day that celebrates the birth anniversary of Goddess Sita, wife of Lord Rama. As per the Hindu traditions, it is believed that she was born on the Navami tithi or the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha during the Baisakh month. As per that, this year, Sita Navami will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, Baisakh Shukla Navami. It is believed that Goddess Sita was born on Tuesday, on Pushya Nakshatra. Goddess Sita was married to Lord Rama, who was also born on Navami tithi during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. As per the Hindu calendar, Sita Navami falls a month after Rama Navami and to mark this auspicious day, married women observe fast and pray to seek long lives of their husbands. It is believed that Goddess Sita also prayed for Lord Rama’s life and well-being after she was abducted by Ravana.

As per the Hindu calendar, the Navami tithi of Shukla Paksha of the Baisakh month will start at 06: 22 am on Thursday, May 16. It will end at 08:48 am on Friday, May 17. Sita Navami will be celebrated on May 16. It is believed that if devotees worship the Goddess and observe fast, it may result in marital bliss.

To get the blessings of Goddess Sita for good fortune, observe fast on Sita Navami as per the rituals. Offer Shodash (Sola=16) Shringaar, which is 16 items of makeup to the Goddess. It is believed that this will please her and you will be blessed with a happy marital life.

On the auspicious day of Sita Navami, offer Makhana kheer to Goddess Sita. This will please the Goddess and you will be blessed with wealth and prosperity in the house. After all, Goddess Sita is considered to be the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and it is believed that she loves Makhana.
