Many important fasts and festivals will be commemorated during this month. Notably, the auspicious occasion of Pitru Paksha also falls on this month after which the Devi Paksha will start.

The auspicious festival of Durga puja is set to be commemorated during this month. The day of Mahalaya falls on October 2. The sacred Devi Paksha also starts on the same day. Durga Puja will start with Shasti which falls on October 9. The grand festival will conclude on Dashami, which falls on October 12.
