After SC suo motu, Faisal Vawda defends his hard-hitting remarks against IHC judges

After the Supreme Court took suo motu notice of Faisal Vawda’s verbal attack on the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges, the independent senator on Thursday defended his controversial presser saying he stood by his stance regarding the judiciary.

Speaking on Geo News programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Vawda clarified that he did not name any judge in his Wednesday’s presser wherein he blasted the IHC judges over their letter alleging meddling by spy agencies in judicial affairs, saying that targeting of institutions should stop.

“Stop targeting the institutions, enough is enough. If there is any interference by institutions, then provide evidence and we will stand together [against it],” the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader had said during the presser.

“I stand by my stance that I stated in the press conference,” he said while responding to a question regarding his explosive presser.

“Whoever tries to throw my turban, I will make a football out of his turban,” defiant Vawda reiterated, adding that he will hurl swear words twice if someone abused him.

Responding to a question, the senator said that he would die but will not backtrack when it comes to his honour.

Referring to the “derogatory” remarks made by PTI leader Rauf Hassan, the senator said no one took notice of his statements against the judges but he was “singled out”.

Vawda said: “When you accuse me of being a proxy, then you will have to show evidences.”

The senator warned he would give a curt reply if he is maligned.

“I did not blame anyone directly,” Vawda added.

Showering praise on Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, the senator said that he was grateful for the opportunity to appear before the top court.

“I am appearing before an honest chief justice.”

According to sources, a three-member bench led by CJP Isa will hear the suo motu notice against the senator on May 17.
