Alizeh Shah has a message for her haters

Pakistani actor, Alizeh Shah, recently raised eyebrows with her fashion choice at a recent award show. Her outfit, which consisted of a short black dress accompanied by a faux fur embellishment, sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many slamming her for her bold decision. The Ehd-e-Wafa actor, however, refused to let the haters bring her down.

In a fearless move, Alizeh took to social media and responded to haters with, “Still looked better than the people sitting at home typing nonsense,” in an Instagram Story.

Before Alizeh defended herself, the backlash was swift and severe, with some even comparing her to Uorfi Javed, an Indian actor also known for her daring fashion choices. The trolls were relentless, flooding social media with negative comments and harsh judgments.

An Instagram user commented, “She just got inspired by Urfi.” Another wrote, “You just lost your attractiveness.” 

This is not the first, and certainly may not be the last time the Ishq Tamasha actor will have to defend herself from cyber-bullies that plague social media. In the past, the actor frequently shared pictures of K-pop inspired looks on Instagram. She swapped out her long tresses for a series of colourful wigs, at which haters jumped. Once again, her comments section was flooded with unpleasantness.  One Instagram user went as far as to comment, “I’m going to have nightmares now.”

It seems Alizeh will never be able to escape the nastiness, especially since nothing seems to vex social media users more than her originality when it comes to style. Her experience battling trolls highlights the double standards present in society. 

While celebrities are expected to dress conservatively, they are also criticised for not being fashionable enough. If they dare to express creativity through fashion, they are inevitably met with backlash. Alizeh’s response is a refreshing reminder that celebrities are also human beings with autonomy.
